3. Applications
 
Fluorescent Whitening Agent SWN is soluble in ethanol, ethylene glycol, acidic aqueous solutions, resins, varnishes, and some organic solvents, while its solubility in water is only 0.006%. Commercial products are generally applied in the form of solutions, which are prepared by: salifying it with sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid; mixing it with organic acids (e.g., tartaric acid, citric acid, oxalic acid); or adding solubilizers to improve solubility and dispersants. It imparts a red-violet hue to textiles.
 
Fluorescent Whitening Agent SWN is mainly used in wool and silk textiles to effectively enhance their whiteness in appearance. This product should not be used in the same bath as sodium chlorite.
 
4. Dosage
 
Reference dosage of Fluorescent Whitening Agent SWN per 100kg of wool or silk textiles: 50g-500g (0.05-0.5%).
